Fireside Cooking with @thenourishedchef × Milkcan. Enjoy two easy, crowd-pleasing recipes made for long afternoons outdoors.
There’s something special about cooking over fire - the crackle, the warmth, the simplicity of it all. This season, we teamed up with @thenourishedchef to bring you two delicious Flame & Feast recipes that are quick to make, big on flavour, and perfect for slow weekends around your Milkcan fire pit.
Whether you're toasting sandwiches over the grill or simmering something hearty in cast iron, these recipes celebrate everything we love about outdoor cooking: unfussy steps, wholesome ingredients, and that unmistakable fire-kissed finish.
1. Camembert & Pear Firepit Toastie
A little fancy, a lot delicious - this toastie combines creamy camembert, sweet pear, and pesto for the ultimate fireside comfort snack.- 4 slices sourdough
- 4 tbsp pesto
- Camembert or Brie slices
- 1 pear, thinly sliced
- Butter (for bread and pan)
- Generously butter your slices of sourdough.
- Spread pesto over each slice, then layer your camembert and pear before closing the toastie.
- Heat a cast-iron griddle skillet directly over the Milkcan firepit grill until hot.
- Place the toastie into the skillet and cook slowly over medium embers (not high flames) until the bottom turns crisp and golden.
- Flip once and cook until the cheese melts and the bread is evenly toasted.
2. Firepit Shakshouka with Beans

- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 onion, diced
- 1 red capsicum, sliced
- 2–3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp paprika
- ½ tsp chilli flakes (optional)
- 1 can crushed tomatoes
- 1 can cannellini or butter beans, drained
- Salt + pepper
- 3–4 eggs
- Fresh parsley or coriander
- Crusty bread
- Build medium embers and place a cast iron pan over the Milkcan firepit grill.
- Sauté onion and capsicum in olive oil until softened. Add garlic and spices; cook for 1 minute.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes and simmer for 8–10 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Fold in beans, season generously, and create small wells for the eggs. Cover and cook until the whites set and yolks are still runny.
- Sprinkle with herbs and serve with crusty bread - straight from the cast iron, exactly how it should be enjoyed.
